It's That Time Of Year Again
This concert series means four consecutive Fridays full of entertainment and downtown fun. For the first concert, Louisiana Express will get the crowd pumped up as they wow attendees with their dance music consisting of classics from the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, 80’s and 90’s. Chris Flowers is golden with her saxophone and amazing vocals.
On Friday May 23, City Heat, a local favorite will bring their cool flare to the audience with a variety of feel good covers sure to get you out your chair and dancing in the street. They are known for their rhythm and blues and jazz and funk dance tunes. Roddie Romero & the Hub City All Stars makes their return to Lake Charles on Friday May 30. This band is Grammy nominated and disappoints bringing a set full of what is described as “Louisiana Roots” music encompassing Zydeco, Cajun and Americana. They are known for also incorporating the Creole and Cajun sound we all appreciate. Topping off the concert series is band that knows how to boogie. On Friday June 6, Boomerang will bring the party through the roof with their sizzling hot funk, classic rock and Top 40 hits. This eight piece band also packs the horns in their set.
While I have mentioned all of the main performances scheduled for this year, also look forward to the awesome musical talent in the 700 block of Ryan Street by Luna not to mention the vendors, food and more. All beverage sales of Downtown at Sundown will benefit the non-profit organization, the Literacy Council of SWLA so all outside drinks and pets are asked to be left off site. Be sure to bring your lawn chair and get a great spot to enjoy the entertainment. Each Friday the fun occurs from 6-9 PM. If for any reason it rains, the event will move inside the Civic Center. - BRAY J #heybrayj #THEBEAT
